Challenging your limits
What is IronMan
Great challenges for men and women who love putting themselves on the line, measuring themselves against the adrenaline of competition and against themselves. They come from all over the world and meet in Cervia for a great moment of sport, which tells a story much more exciting than the spectacular competition.
Because IronMan Italy is a tale of hard work, of great sporting feats, but also of strong emotions and enormous enthusiasm, as well as being an attraction in the tourist offer aimed at those who love active holidays.
IRONMAN IN AND AROUND CERVIA: THE ROUTE
IronMan Italy will set up its headquarters in Cervia with the village that will be the meeting place for athletes and spectators. The start is on the beach of Cervia, at dawn, when the athletes will face the sea for 3.8 km. The public, very numerous in the last edition, has then the possibility to follow the race along the 180 km by bike, between Cervia, Bertinoro, Forlimpopoli, Ravenna, Forlì and Cesena and, again between Cervia and Milano Marittima, for the last fraction, the marathon one.
The athletes are engaged with 4 laps of 10 km each, until they complete a flat route through the characteristic places of the two locations.
Crossing beautiful landscapes and nature reserves such as the salt pans, then towards Forlimpopoli and Bertinoro, along the road of the wines and flavours of Romagna and finally descending again towards the sea, with a total height difference of about 700m.
The Mille Miglia arrives in Cervia
For the second year running, the elegant "old ladies" will return to grind out kilometres along the roads of Romagna, alongside the salt pans of Cervia and roaring their engines through the pine trees of Milano Marittima: the unmissable appointment with "the most beautiful race in the world".
Cervia and Milano Marittima will be the strategic arrival and departure points, in the hope of achieving the same public success as last year.
THE THOUSAND MILES TODAY
The Mille Miglia, today a re-enactment of the legendary Brescia-Rome-Brescia race that made its debut in 1927, is a veritable travelling museum, with exceptional cars that bear witness to the history of Italian design and style.
The caravan crosses towns and cities from the north to the centre and back, becoming an extraordinary opportunity to show the world local beauty and excellence.
For the more than 400 cars and their crews, the arrival is scheduled in Cervia in the evening and the departure from Milano Marittima early the next morning.
