10 things to do in Cervia in summer
Summer is finally here and it's time to take a break!
Do you want to enjoy moments of pure relaxation with family or friends? Would you like to have an aperitif or dinner on the beach at sunset?
Everything is possible in Cervia!
Take your cue, be inspired and come and live your experience in the city of salt, among colours and emotions.
1. Sunrise and breakfast on the beach
Sunrise on the beach is an unmissable spectacle of nature!
The sound of the waves, the sea air and the shells decorating the shoreline, all surrounded by the colours of dawn.
In warmer weather there is nothing better than starting the day with a walk along the shore with the low tide and a breakfast overlooking the sea.
2. Sports on the beach, in the water or in the green of Cervia
For the more competitive, almost all bathing establishments have areas of the beach dedicated to beach volleyball and beach tennis with courts spread over 9 kilometres of coastline.
The summer energy continues with other new beach sports, such as beach soccer or foot volleyball. For traditionalists, on the other hand, table tennis and the legendary game of bowls are timeless.
Cervia also offers a wide range of opportunities if you love water sports: from the classics such as sailing, canoeing and paddle boarding, to new trends in boarding, such as SUP, surfing and its acrobatic derivatives: windsurfing, kitesurfing, wakeboarding ... and many others.
Get involved and challenge your friends!
3. Excursions in the pine forest
If you want to cool off in the shade of the pine trees, the centuries-old pine forest of Cervia and Milano Marittima and the coastal pine forest of Pinarella and Tagliata offer various routes and paths suitable for everyone.
Walking, jogging, cycling or reading a book in a natural environment is ideal to find some coolness even on hot days.
Speaking of the city's green spaces, Cervia hosts the 50th edition of Europe's largest open-air floral art exhibition: Cervia Garden City.
4. The Cervia Salt Pan, southern station of the Po Delta Park
The Salina is the place where the entire history of the city originated, with the ancient Ficocle, and it is here that sweet salt is still harvested today: the white gold of Cervia.
The Salt Pan is a protected oasis home to flamingos, avocets and stilt birds, and is part of the Po Delta Park nature reserve.
From April to November, the Visitor Centre organises many activities, for both adults and children, in perfect harmony with nature: birdwatching, guided tours on foot or by bike, excursions by electric boat or canoe and many others.
5. The House of Butterflies
In the evocative setting of the pine forest of Cervia and Milano Marittima, the House of Butterflies is a greenhouse housing hundreds of spectacularly coloured butterflies from the tropical regions of Africa, Asia, America and Australia.
Along the paths it is possible to admire them up close, perched on flowers or on the large leaves of typical tropical shrubs.
An enchanting spectacle of nature that you can't miss!
6. Boat trips
If you want to spend a fun day in close contact with the sea or if you want to discover the Riviera Romagnola from a different perspective, book your boat trip!
Cervia offers various itineraries such as the excursion to the methane platforms, the search for dolphins swimming in packs and the daily "mini-cruise" from Romagna to Marche.
Especially spectacular is the night-time trip to admire the fireworks, organised for St. Lawrence's Night, directly from the sea.
7. Aperitif on the beach at sunset
The Riviera Romagnola is also famous for its timeless aperitifs on the beach. The perfect time to enjoy the sea with the reflections of the sunset.
A cocktail prepared at the moment, two bubbles and some appetizers to delight the palate, perhaps with some typical products.
Just what you need to round off a day by the sea.
8. Heritage walks
The ideal way to get to know Cervia from close up, through the stories of salt workers and fishermen, who become expert guides for the occasion.
These walks are suitable for everyone, young and old, families, couples and friends.
Participation is free and is promoted by the Cervia Salt and Sea Ecomuseum.
9. Evening stroll through the town centre markets
Every week in summer, the town centres come alive with evening markets for all tastes: crafts, gastronomy, clothes...
Take the opportunity to do your shopping, stroll through the streets of the town centres and why not, enjoy an ice cream with friends.
Discover the markets in Cervia, Milano Marittima, Pinarella and Tagliata.
10. Events
There are many events not to be missed during the season: top evenings between concerts with great music stars, encounters with culture, pyrotechnic shows by moonlight or simply a pleasant evening to enjoy the flavours of our local cuisine, accompanied by background music playing in the streets of the city.
