The mosaics of San Martino prope litus maris
The story of a discovery, the discovery of a story
Saturday 15th June 2024
CERVIA - Musa, Salt Museum
9 p.m.
On the occasion of the European Archaeology Days (GEA), the event dedicated to archaeology in Cervia returns, to bring the general public closer to this important heritage of the town.
This occasion is the ideal time to rediscover the history of the mosaics of the Church of San Martino prope litus maris, the site brought to light in 1989 that, with its polychrome floors, has become the symbol of Cervia and Musa. The church had splendid mosaic panels of different sizes, which were adapted to the articulated spaces of the building.
On Saturday 15th June, a conference by the archaeological officer Kevin Ferrari and the restorers of the Gruppo Mosaicisti Marco Santi and Anna Caterino will illustrate the restoration work currently underway.
In addition, a photographic exhibition will tell the story of the mosaics and their context through images.
For the special occasion, a panel of the never-before exhibited floors, currently undergoing restoration, will be shown.
The event accompanies the exhibition dedicated to the important excavation, which can be visited in the museum until 30 June.
Please note that this event is in italian language.
On this occasion, admission to the museum and the tour are free of charge.
