Cervia: Literary urban trekking
An urban trekking route between houses and places
1st and 22nd July, 12th August 2024
MEETINGPOINT
CERVIA - San Michele Tower
A path of about 4 kilometers along the streets of Cervia in the company of the storytellers, poets and writers who have made the city famous.
A two-hour walk to houses and villas that have given hospitality to important personalities of art and literature.
Cervia, a concentration of author's places
The walk starts with the beautiful views of the Magazzini del Sale (Salt Warehouses) with the evocative Fountain of the Suspended Carpet designed by Tonino Guerra, evidence of how Cervia is another destination on his dreamlike journey from Montefeltro down to Romagna.
A gaze to the canal port where boats and evocative images recall the verses of Luzi, Ungaretti and Carlo Nava.
Discovering the villas of authors
The itinerary leads along the streets of the centre to discover the houses of authors, and then into hidden streets that recall great names:
- Grazia Deledda
- Teodolinda Pignocchi
- Isotta Gervasi
- Max David
- Giovannino Guareschi
- Tonino Guerra and many others.
This is not a simple guided tour, but a real trek to discover lesser-known corners of the area that have witnessed the exploits and history of great men of letters.
The narrowest alleys invite you to discover the homes of Guareschi, Max David and the 'Angel on a Bicycle', Dr. Isotta Gervasi.
The women of Cervia, their passion and dreams are a further thread running through the trek thanks to the memory of Teodolinda Pignocchi with her battle for justice and women's emancipation.
The last part can only be dedicated to Grazia Deledda, on the 150th anniversary of her birth, with a route leading from Villa Igea to Villa Caravella, the biscuit-coloured house.
During the walk, the authors are remembered in the words of their writings, not so much a declamation of verses as an opportunity to breathe the city in their own words.
