Salina, special salt harvesting excursion
Guided excursion by electric boat in the Salina's surrounding canal to reach the salt pans and witness the Cavadura, or salt harvesting.
From the Cervia Saltpan Visitor Centre we set off in the electric boat (it is a very simple boat with wooden benches that can carry around 20 people), which glides silently along the canals surrounding the salt pan, where the water is shallow so there is no seasickness (water depth in the canal minimum 1.5 m, maximum 1.8 / 2 m water depth in the salt pans minimum 5 cm, maximum 30 cm).
Moving silently on the water, we arrive at the salt pans, where we disembark at a jetty and walk along the banks of the salt pans to see the productive heart of the salt pans.
We witness the harvesting of salt. The length of the walk may vary depending on where the basin in which the salt is being harvested is located.
To reach this marvellous place, we will have to board the boat and lower ourselves for a few moments to pass under a small brick bridge. During this experience, we will immerse ourselves in incredible views of water and sky, discover the origin of the famous Cervia Sweet Salt and a curious halophytic plant used in cooking, the Salicornia (saltwort), touch the silt and take wonderful souvenir photos.
