Saltpans of Italy
Saltpans of Italy
from Sunday 1st September to Sunday 27th October 2024
Cervia, Musa - Salt Museum, via Nazario Sauro 24
From 1st September to 27th October, a series of historical black and white images illustrating some of Italy's salt pans will be on show at MUSA.
The exhibition dedicated to the places of salt in Italy is part of the event Sapore di Sale (Salt Festival), which celebrates the salt tradition of the city of Cervia.
Among the images, taken from period postcards, are salt pans that still exist and salt pans that over time have become nature parks or have been completely dismantled. In some cases all that remains are popular sayings and traditions referring to the former presence of productive salt pans.
The exhibition is curated by the Gruppo Culturale Civiltà Salinara.
