On the stage in Piazza Garibaldi, Cervia, on Thursday 8th August Lorenzo Semprini & The False Prophets perform in the concert Land of Hope and Dreams: songs of hope, dreams, and redemption.
The show is a journey into the roots of folk music, dixieland, blues, Irish country, spirituals, bluegrass, and soul, aided by stories and anecdotes about the songs and authors.
The choice of songs falls on the theme of ‘hope, dreams and redemption’. From the stories of outlaws, slaves and immigrants come the songs of the concert: Jessie James is a ballad dedicated to the famous bandit, passing through the songs of the Waterboys and Van Morrison with Irish sounds, or the chorality of some brahms like Blowin in the wind by Bob Dylan, People have the power by Patty Smith and My Hometown by Bruce Springsteen. Beautiful, poignant and evocative are the songs A rainy night in Soho by the Pogues or Love rescue me by U2.
The concert is an engaging and emotional ride through the songs of Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Johnny Cash, a story that tells and unites the dusty roads of Jack Kerouac, John Steinbeck, Jack Fante, the visions of Louis Armstrong and the songs of resistance of Pete Seeger.
